Dear Parents,

Reading aloud to your child can be one of your best parenting experiences! We hope that you and your child create many loving memories as you explore children’s books together. Reading at least 20 minutes a day with your child will enhance their fine motor skills, create a strong vocabulary, and teach empathy along with many other benefits. At Faine Elementary School, we promote literacy by providing all of our students educational lessons in the classroom and in the school media center with the opportunity to check out books to bring home.

Your child will visit the library weekly with their class where they will check out books. Students may not check out more than one book at a time. Your child will bring home books to reinforce the daily practice of and foster a love for reading. This activity also teaches the independence and responsibility of “checking-out” books, caring for books, and returning the borrowed materials. Daily fines are not accumulated for late books. However, lost or damaged materials will result in a fine of the price of the book.

Sincerely,

Ms. Olivia Howell, Media Specialist
